DESCRIPTION: It was time to see some raptors, so I took a drive to Hawk Hill where the raptor count was in progress. The Golden Gate Raptor Observatory is a dedicated group of volunteers that has been keeping track of raptor migrations since the 1980's and they are a marvelous group of people. I set up my cameras and was rewarded with some fine viewing. Starting with this juvenile Cooper's Hawk I used two cameras this day, a Canon 40 attached to a 500mm lens with 1.4 converter, and also a Canon 1DMK3 with a t 400mm f5.6 lens hand held. The Mk3 has file names that begin with the letters _GPN Most of the shots of the hawks in flight are heavily cropped.
